Mojo Monday #224 and Silhouette!

It's been a crazy week!

It started dumping snow on Monday but the roads were clear enough that I was able to go hang out with Ben (the boy I nanny) and play in the snow. We had a blast sledding, building a snowman and snowfort, and having snowball fights.

Things kinda went south when I was trying to break a piece of plastic to make a mustache for our snowman and it snapped and a piece of plastic hit me in the eye. I ran inside and washed it out just in case there was something stuck in it but it kept bothering me and my vision was blurry. A 10 minutes later I was bending over to build on our snowfort when Ben comes up behind me and hits me in the back of a head with a snowball. he didn't realize this but the snowball happened to have a huge rock in it. Trying not to overreact I just said "its okay Benny, it was an accident" and walked inside. A few seconds later, I realize there is blood dripping down my neck. Turns out the rock had taken a chunk out of the back of my head. At this point I start laughing at the image of myself: one watery, bloodshot eye with a big ole mat of blood in my hair...not exactly ideal.

Anyway, I took some ibuprofen, went home, took a shower and washed the blood out of my hair and my head felt much better. My eye, however continued to get worse and worse until I could barely open it without intense pain. I went to bed hoping it would fix itself and although it felt a bit better in the morning, my husband and i were still concerned. So, we drove over to the urgent care 2 minutes from our apartment and got it checked out. It was my first trip to the er and I was really happy that it wasn't too serious (just a scratched cornea that would mend itself in a day or two).

That night it dumped five inches of snow so Stephen (my husband) and I were stuck at home! He still had to work but it was so wonderful to be able to sit in the same room and work on projects all day long. We even got to take a little break to go sledding : ).

Anyway, back on topic. I'm taking a little break from Art Nouveau to post my Mojo Monday entry for the week. Here is the sketch:

And here is my take on it.

For this project, I did a few things I hadn't done before. First of all, I just bought a Silhouette machine and its AMAZING. I will still always love and keep my Cricuts but I love the flexibility of design that it offers. I also used digital papers and sentiments along with the silhouette design studio, another new love of mine. Its so great because you can create a layout and fill it in with colors and patterns and just print it on your printer and cut it out! You can also print out swatches of colors and patterns and cut them on your Cricut!
