I'm doing a double feature post today because I wanted to introduce 2 new things to you: this week's challenge over at BBTB2 and one of my dear friends and talented designer, Maura Kelly from Pretty Different Designs. Read to the end of this post for some fun blog candy!
The challenge this week was to create a project based on anything that flies in nature. I chose the butterfly from the Cricut Sophie cartridge as the focal point of my design and used one of Maura's designs to make the background.
Here is the finished project:
You all know I love digital papers and today's project features just one more reason why: printing on fabric! You can buy rolls of printable cotton, linen, and silk online or at Joann Crafts or you can make your own by ironing on fabric to freezer paper, cutting it down to 8.5x11 and running through your inkjet printer. It dulls the colors a bit but I love the rich, vintage feel of it. This card's background was printed using a design is from Maura's "Anemones on Canvas" set, which includes 15 gorgeous prints for only $5.50! I printed a full sheet and then cut it down to size and frayed the edges. You can find the set by following the link HERE. The scraps from this project can be used to make fabric flowers, fabric covered brads or buttons, or lots of other fun embellishments.
~Here's to the creative journey

ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty with the embossing on the butterfly. I love the colors!
ReplyDeleteSoooo pretty! Love the gorgeous fabric you've printed. will have to check out her shop. xxD
ReplyDeleteWOW! Hard choice on the papers. Love so many. I'm thinkin' because it's Fall the Chevron in yellow orange and brown is my fave. I noticed they print on 12x12. If you want smaller, do you just reduce to size? So if you want to maintain the design, the largest for an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet would be approx. 8x8? xxD
ReplyDeleteWOW!! Love that printed fabric as your background "paper"!! Such cool papers and who knew you could print on fabric! Not me!! lol I love all the element of this card, they all work so well together. Well done Rebekah!! Hugs!!
