BBTB2 Fashion Challenge Host!

Hey All!

I have a few exciting things to share. The first is that I am published! If you have been following me for awhile you might remember me being jazzed because Cricut magazine had chosen one of my submissions for publication but now I can finally say I am a published designer! Check out  the "Fabulous Flowers" section of the July issue of Cricut magazine to see my design!

My second piece of news is that this week I am hosting my very first challenge over at the BBTB2 challenge blog! I chose the theme "fashion" for the challenge this week so all you have to do is make any fashion inspired project using your Cricut and link it up!

For my project, I chose to make a little princess onesie using a new technique for image transfer. Here is is completed:
Step 1: print out a swatch of patterned paper using regular printer paper and a laser jet printer (ink jet won't work). This paper is available on my Etsy shop HERE

Step 2: cut out the dress from the Disney Princess: Happily Ever After Cricut Cartridge from the patterned paper swatch.
Step 3: assemble a clean, pre-washed white onesie, Photo Transfer Medium Mod Podge, and a foam brush. insert a piece of freezer paper inside the onesie to keep the medium from soaking through.
Step 4:  Coat the colored side of your paper with a generous amount of the transfer medium until it is mostly opaque

Step 5: lay the design face down on the front of the onesie and use your fingers or a brayer to smooth the design down to the surface. Let dry for 24 hours (or if you are impatient like me, hit it with a heat gun for a few minutes and let it cool for a few more minutes)

Step 6: Using a damp sponge, wet the back of the paper and let sit a few minutes. Then, starting from the center, carefully rub the paper with your fingers until it peels away, leaving your design! You may have to do this a few times to get all the paper remnants. I coated mine with a thin layer of fabric mod Podge because the edges of the dress were coming up a little.
This is what it looks like at the end! neato huh? I was super impressed with this product, it is super pliable and natural feeling and it is machine washable in cold water although I think I will recommend hand washing, just in case. I used Tulip Beads in a Bottle in Pearl to create the pearls on the dress and added one pink Swarovski rhinestone for some bling. I'm so excited to try this technique on other materials!

~Here's to the creative journey!

  15. hi

on this page in your blog, you said you used the Disney Princess: Happily Ever After Cricut Cartridge but on images of that cartridge, i do not see that cut out at all. Did you use a different one? I would really like to make it but I don't see it when i go to the provo website and look at what's on the cartridge
