"Sticking Around" bloghop!

Hey All!

Welcome to my very first blog hop! I'm so excited to be here today with some talented designers to give you some fun inspiration!

Here are the hop participants:
Amy with Scrap This, Save That
Cissy and Fran at The Cissy and Fran Show
Corrinne with Tuesday Alchemy
Lisa with Scrappy Distractions
Rebekah with Tangle's Treasures (Me!)

Cissy and Fran have a wonderful prize for you all:
A load of gorgeous stickers valued at over $150! Since we are all relatively new bloggers, all you have to do to be eligible to win this fab prize is to look around each of our blogs a bit and give us feedback (likes, dislikes, suggestions). Any feedback you have for me would be greatly appreciated : ). The winners will be announced on Cissy and Fran's blog tomorrow. For everyone who comments on my blog, you will also have a chance to win a $20 gift card to my Etsy shop : ). The hop will close at 9:00 pm tonight. Good Luck!

Now on to my project. I'm stretching my comfort zone today by showing you a piece of wall decor I made using my handy dandy Cricut. I used the Damask Decor Cartridge to cut a stencil (I used vinyl, but you can also use Cricut's adhesive backed stencil plastic). First, I decoupaged a plain square canvas with some vintage book pages I have and then applied the stencil while the decoupage was still a little tacky. I used a pouncer to apply black acrylic paint all over, let it set a few minutes, then removed the vinyl stencil. Because it was still a little tacky, it peeled away the top layer of book paper and paint in some areas, leaving a distressed, grungy look.

The silver dots you see on parts of the design are a recent find of mine: Beads in a Bottle  by Tulip. Now these products are designed to be used on fabric (to create a super neato effect) but I've found they are excellent for using on paper as well, and they have a bunch of different colors.

I eventually want to do 3 of these paintings with the design at different angles and in different places on the canvas to hang as a triptych but this will do for now.

Enjoy! Don't forget to leave a comment if you want to be entered in my little prize or the grand prize!

Happy Hopping!
